Poor Credit Mortgages

Are you considering a mortgage with a less than perfect credit rating ?  We consider all circumstances making a new mortgage possible for you.

We can help despite your poor credit history

You could still be eligible for a new mortgage with a poor credit score.

High street banks & building societies have their own internal credit scoring models. When you apply to them they will normally run a credit check against your name to decide your credit worthiness.

It really is a computer based decision. If you miss a loan or credit card payment this is recorded on your credit file, which will, in turn, reduce your own personal credit score. If you score isn’t up to scratch the computer will say “no”

Day one we will thoroughly examine your credit report, and endeavour to match you with a lender on the most favourable terms available.

We have direct access to the whole UK mortgage market.

FAQ's

Also known as ‘Bad Credit’. It is word often used when you have a low credit score. A credit score is between 0 and 999, and is dependent on which credit agency you choose to use. There are three main credit referencing agencies,  Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.

These agencies can give you a credit report, but they may all show you different information. We recommend using checkmyfile because that gives you a report that shows the information from all three credit referencing agencies. It’s the best way to see what’s in your credit file.

A low credit score means you have had credit issues in the past that have negatively affected your score. You can have a low credit score for a lot of reasons. For example, missing a payment.

You can end up with a poor credit history for many different reasons. It could be a missed credit card or loan repayment, a payday loan or applying for multiple credit cards. These often result in CCJs, IVAs, a debt management plan or even bankruptcy.

All of these can affect your credit score. Having a bad credit history can make it more difficult to get approved for a mortgage, but it is still possible.

There isn’t such a thing as a ‘poor or bad credit mortgage’, but there are specialist lenders who have more experience giving mortgages to people with poor credit than others. That’s where MoveSmart Mortgages can help.
